ABOUT:

Jen Humphreys is a contemporary woodworker based in the North East of Scotland.

Her practice blends traditional techniques with a bold, contemporary aesthetic. Inspired by the meeting point between urban life and Scotland’s dense woodlands, Jen’s work explores the relationship between organic materials and contemporary architectural forms, contrasting natural grain patterns with precise, minimalist compositions.

Graduating from Gray’s School of Art in 2014 with a First Class Honours degree in design, Jen went on to train with the Association of Master Upholsterers which led to a position at a high-end furniture studio in London.

Jen is now a Chartered Teacher of Craft and Design and continues to develop her own creative practice from her dedicated workshop in the grounds of Banff Castle, Aberdeenshire as well as taking part in artistic residencies elsewhere to share and further explore her passion for woodworking.
